Peace by Piece with Pie: a puzzle workshop

What happens when strangers commune with pie and puzzles?

World peace, piece by piece!

In this interactive community-building workshop participants play and problem-solve in a mindful social practice using Sarah Jane Lapp’s (SJL) artisan jigsaw puzzles.
No screens, no batteries, no competition. Read one journalist’s experience here!
This interactive team-building workshop offers playful pathways for…
  • communal connection
  • focus and flow
  • cooperation
  • mindfulness
  • emotional regulation
  • relational intelligence
  • neuro-elasticity
Workshop Content
The workshop launches with somatic grounding exercises and verbal/written intention setting. Participants will then be paired to co-assemble 24piece puzzles. After a few rounds of partnered puzzling, we will pause for a group discussion, giving attendees space to contemplate and share their puzzle assembly strategies with everyone. Participants will then be placed in larger groups (4-5) to assemble higher-piece count puzzles to implement the strategies discussed. In closing the entire group will come back together to process the experience. How did puzzling shift your emotional state and/or make a shared “flow state” more accessible? What new collaboration/cooperation techniques did you discover? Who shows up differently to you now that you’ve puzzled together? And when can these discoveries and principles be applied to both your work and life beyond the puzzle table?
Workshop Feedback

“Seekonk Public Library hosted Sarah Jane Lapp for the fantastic program Peace by Piece: A Puzzle Workshop (with Pie). Her unique program was customized for our interests, incorporating thought provoking discussions on identity in a fun and engaging way; the pie helped! Sarah Jane helped participants to not only enjoy completing various types of jigsaw puzzles, but reach out and get to know each other. Through this program we have identified a whole new interest area in our community to encourage those connections to grow. Highly recommended!”
